THE RALSTON VALLEY MUSTANGS FINISHED THE SEASON WITH AN OVERALL RECORD OF 17 AND 2. GREAT JOB MUSTANGS!

GOOD LUCK IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!

Home Plate The Mustangs wrapped up league play with a victory over the Golden Demons. The final score was 11–9. The Mustangs put together a seven–run 5th inning that was all they needed for the victory. Kenny Faherty and Ryan Barban were the offensive sparks with two triples and two RBIs each. Kole Towner and Connor Knutson also hit critical doubles for RBI's. Matt Skipper picked up the victory, and Travis Hayes recorded the save.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MUSTANGS FOR AN UNDEFEATED SEASON IN LEAGUE PLAY. GOOD LUCK IN THE PLAYOFFS.

In a chilly after–game "Senior Day" ceremony, Senior Moms spoke words of affection and gratitude to their sons acknowledging the joys of watching the boys throughout their baseball youth. It was a great way to end the day for the seniors who played their last high school baseball game at the RVHS field. Thanks to all the RVHS Poms for taking the time to come and cheer for the team; special thanks to the Moms for their heartfelt (and tearful) tribute to the boys, and sincere thanks to Mary–Beth Hayes for coordinating the activity.

Home Plate The Mustangs defeated the Jefferson Saints 19 — 0. Connor Knutson picked up the win with a complete game shutout.

Home Plate In the hardest-fought game of the season, the Mustangs squeezed out a victory against the D Evelyn Jaguars. The final score was 12 — 9. The Team put together an offensive barrage in the late innings to overcome an 8 – 3 deficit. Matt Skipper led the offense with a 4–for–5 day including a home run. Ryan Barban, Matt Spirek, and Travis Hayes also contributed with home runs. Matt Jones was hot going 3–for–5 with three doubles.

Home Plate The Mustangs defeated Elizabeth 28 — 0. "That's all I have to say about that" – Forrest Gump

Home Plate On April 7, the Mustangs defeated the Conifer Lobos 10 – 0 behind the pitching of Connor Knutson and the strong bat of Ryan Barban. Barban had three hits, including a home run, to collect 5 RBI. Knudsen pitched four innings, gave up four hits and had three strikeouts before being relieved by Barban, who needed seven pitches to close out the fifth inning for the save.

Home Plate League play started in April, and the Mustangs are off to a 2 and 0 start. Strong pitching performances by Matt Skipper and Nate Jurney propelled the team to their first league victories against Alameda and Englewood.

Home Plate Big news on the local front was the defeat of the Arvada West Wildcats for the first time in Ralston Valley's baseball history. To quote the Arvada Press, "Matt Skipper struck out 11 and Travis Hayes was 3-for-4 with four RBI in Ralston Valley's 12-4 victory over A-West on Thursday, March 20, at All Star Park in Lakewood." Home Plate The Mustangs headed south for a Spring Break tournament in Arizona. For the first time since RVHS has been making the Arizona trip the team went undefeated. Great Job Boys!!!
Congratulations to Dave Doherty for his "Hole in One"!

Home Plate The Mustangs went 3 and 2 in their 2008 "pre–season". Losses to Lewis Palmer and Thomas Jefferson, combined with wins against Fruita Monument, Pueblo South, and Arvada West rounded out the local pre–season. Of special interest were five innings of one–hit pitching by Matt Skipper against Pueblo South. Excellent job, Matt!!!
